Another one bites the dust.

heard from the place of last weeks interview,..
Nope,.. they went with someone else.
That saves me a really big decision.
Really weird interview.
Rush Rush Rush,...

I would have had to ask for another visit
before I could have considered taking the spot.

Hey Fri,.. ya still got yur tie-dye?

The flagstone patio work continues

OK so the final leveling of the flagstone has begun.
I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.
Wish I had taken some before pictures.
What a dufus.

Different angle.

less than 1/4 done but,...
progress none the less.

Happy Monday -- Labor Day Edition

When is a holiday not a holiday,...
When it's labor day and you don't labor.

It really takes the fun out of a day off
when you are unemployed.

At least I am not evacuated and scared.

I finished arranging the flag stones to Mrs. DD's liking
Tomorrow I can start leveling everything.

Fashioned replacement input jacks for the Adcom amp.

Better days coming,.. I feel certain.

Job search update

Heard from the place that was on the top of my list.
They will be pursuing someone else.
RATS....

Second on the list is making calls to my references.
That is always a good sign.

Going for an interview this afternoon
at a place that has a reputation as a sweatshop.
At least it did 5 years ago.

A friend has a referral in for me at his place.
unfortunately in his words,.. "they have the slows"

New lead today at a place offering
a pretty ridiculous salary.
You what they say about things that
seem to be too good to be true.

Onward...

Job search...

Interview at Comp_A last thurs...
they have already started my background check..
That makes me a finalist.

Interview yesterday with Comp_B...
I thought it went well will wait to see about second interview.

Just got off a phone screening with Comp_C
I think they will invite me for a face to face.

So far I feel real good about prospects...
At this point if the salaries come in close I would prefer Comp_B.
Now wasn't that last statement informative?

All would be less pay,.. more commute,..
but better benefits than my last gig (as a consultant)
But,..
I want good insurance.
I am wanting to not have to manage my own health care.
I am not used to having to argue about everything.

At least all three of these places are good solid jobs.

Seemed to go well.

We present the back patio work.. A photo presentati

So here is the work on the back patio
The original flagstone patio had rotten timbers
on the retaining wall and had badly sunk.
In addition to reconstructing the original
we decided to add a lower level to make
an octagonal sitting area
and a rectangular place to put the grill

Initial rough layout ... proof of concept.:

Start.... of replacement

That corners finished

Now the other side.

Well,.. back to work lets finish this puppy up.

Tuesday

Spent pretty much the entire day working on
the back patio re-construction.
Too tired for pictures.
Taking off tomorrow to make sure my hands
are OK for the monthly gig.

This old desk-jockey body
just ain't in shape
for 8 hours of physical work
Even at the rate I was going.

Gotta change strings and put together a set list.

Remember Fri has surgery tomorrow.

Must be a guy thing

So,..
I was watching the opening thing for the Olympics
Some of it any way,
My football team, (Eagles)
had their first pre-season game last night.
Yeah,.. I know they are meaningless
but,.. I get to sit down and do nothing
without feeling too guilty.
Anyway, during commercials
I would flick on over to the Olympics gig.
I caught the drummers,..
Very cool.
I actually missed some football watching it.

At he end they pointed out that
there were two thousand and eight drummers.
Seemed odd to me ,.. and a problem for arrangeing
patterns I thought. Oh well,...

This morning Mrs DD
(who had gone to walk dogs with her sister)
Watched most of the olympics with her.
This morning she was just wild
on telling me a story about my brother-in-law
Starting off with things like...
We can't ever let him live this down
Sandi and I laughed till we cried.
Blah,.. Blah,.. Blah,...

Apparently there were two thousand and eight participants
in most everything that the show put on...
and brother-in-law didn't catch on.
Isn't that hillarious.....

I said Erm,...
"I only really saw the drummers,
but I thought two thousand and eight of them
was pretty odd also"
"Oh,.. crap,... 2008 Olympics"

It must be a guy thing
